How do I arrive to Puebla?
Most students prefer to arrive from the Mexico City Airport.  It is cheaper many times
to fly into the Mexico City Airport(Benito Juarez) rather than the Puebla Airport
(Hermanos Serdán).  From the main terminal at the Mexico City Airport brand new
first class buses take you direct to Puebla.  For instructions on how to take the bus
from the airport in Mexico City to Puebla,
click this link here.  The Puebla
International Airport receives less than 15 flights a day.  From the USA one daily
flight arrives with Continental through Houston.  Secure taxi service is available
from the Puebla Airport 24 hours a day.

Is Puebla safe?
This is one of our students' biggest concerns, but there is no need to worry, Puebla
is a very safe place.  There is a lot of negative media attention of violence at the
borders and a thousand miles from Puebla.  Once you arrive to Puebla you'll
understand that there is no cause for concern. The streets are safe to walk, and the
buses and taxis are safe to take.    Crime is generally isolated to specific
non-tourist areas and is not tourist related.  Crime rates in Puebla are equivalent to
those in Europe or the USA.  You can receive the most accurate information by
talking to the people that have visited Puebla and from those who live there.  For
specific questions

students that live in Puebla, we will gladly provide them for you.

Why do you use the word "acquire" instead of "learn" when talking about your
Spanish program?
Acquiring a language is a natural, intuitive and subconscious process in which the
learner actively participates in real language interactions gathering patterns of
language and its structural uses in order to create and understand an infinite
number of language combinations.  Learning on the other hand, is the formal and
conscious study of grammar rules and structures, verb tables, only leaving the
learner with the memorized blueprints and tools for the job, but not the ability to use
them.  In the LIVIT Immersion Center language is only acquired.

What can I expect to learn in 2 weeks, 4 weeks, etc in LIVIT Immersion Center?
We have six different levels of Spanish, each with a duration of two weeks.
Everyone learns at a different pace, so this question is hard to answer specifically.
We make no guarantees that these results will be the same as or similar to your
individual results.  We have done our best by listing "typical" results after:
1 week: Be able to hold a conversation of the basics; exchanging personal
information; greetings; directions; descriptions; actions like eating, sleeping,
running, etc.; ordering lunch; telling a shortened version of your daily routine.
2 weeks:   Tasks such as ordering basic services, giving basic commands and
taking an ordinary phone message.  Additionally, talking and writing about your
background, family, daily routine, likes, dislikes, special interests with a limited
amount of vocabulary.
4 weeks:   Extended ability to understand, speak and write on a wider range of
ordinary topics with a broader vocabulary.  Everyday conversations with a native
speaker are well practiced.
8 weeks:    Everything is starting to fly off your tongue and your pencil often without
thinking when using common sentences and expressions.  You have acquired a
powerful vocabulary and can form thousands of combinations of sentences in
Spanish fluently.
12 weeks:  Thorough knowledge of the interworkings of Spanish.  Ability to
dynamically communicate across a broad range of topics comfortably and fluently.
Thinking about what you'll say before you say it is highly diminished at this point as
the biggest quest now is building upon your already large vocabulary.

What background and experience to your instructors have?
The instructors are native Mexicans and university graduates with degrees in
modern language and teaching.  They all have many years of experience teaching
Spanish as a second language at all levels from beginner up to native fluency
courses.  As part of our program not only are students exposed to native instructors
in our small group classes (1 - 4 students), they also have the opportunity to
practice directly with our native afternoon activities coordinators and the host family
-- all of whom have lots of experience to help you.  The practice with many different
people will help you get accustomed to different accents, voice tones, expressions
and speeds of native Spanish speakers.  Apart from reading and writing, one of our
main goals is to help you towards mastering listening comprehension.

Do you offer one-on-one classes?

Can couples or families plan to do this together and stay with the same host
family?
Definitely.  Couples and families have a great time studying together and may stay
with the same host family.  When you register, be sure to describe your
preferences and ideal family setting and we will cater to your requests the best we
can.

Where can I find the cheapest flights to Mexico City?
Check here for an idea of round-trip direct and one-stop flight costs to Mexico City
from major cities around the United States(USA) and around the world.
Cheap Flight search tricks:
Do a search using a popular flight finder such as orbitz.com despegar.com or
Yapta.com and look for the cheapest flight.  Then check that  airline's site for the
same flight to see if it's cheaper to buy directly from them.  Keep in mind a travel
website usually charges you a commission per ticket (whether disclosed or not).
Most airlines don't charge a booking fee from their own sites and many times offer
lower prices than through third party sites.  Another trick is to check for trends.
Check the flight on many different dates to see how prices change.  Look at dates
from a year from now.  Then different months.  See if the airline usually drops their
price a few days before the flight departure.  Check when the peak travel times are
when airlines and hotels raise prices.  Check different departure and arrival days to
see which days of the week are the cheapest to fly.  Call a travel agent to confirm
cheap costs.

Does Puebla have an international airport?
Yes, however there are few direct flights and tend to be more expensive.  Currently,
only Continental flies into Puebla and only has one flight per day from Houston, TX.
Most students fly into Mexico City and take a safe direct bus from the airport to
Puebla.  The comfortable luxury bus trip, with drinks and snacks provided, lasts
around 2 hours.   Arrangements can be made for a LIVIT representative to meet
you at the airport customs exit and accompany you or a group to your destination in
Puebla (extra cost: $75/person).  Before departing we will give you complete
instructions for arriving.

What places does LIVIT visit on their excursions?
We enjoy going to many different destinations from month to month to give
returning students a fresh experience.  Places not to miss that we frequently visit
are the great Aztec city of Teotihuacan and the great pyramid of Cholula.  Other
locations include hiking trips to the nearby volcanoes and sightseeing trips to
Tecali, Huejotzingo, Tlaxcala, Atlixco, Huachinango, Izucar de Matamoros and San
Martin.  There is information about these locations and more at the school.

What precautions should I take in Mexico?
Mexico is a safe place to travel.  Crime is generally isolated to specific non-tourist
areas and is not tourist related.  Crime rates are no higher than those of Europe or
the USA.  As always when travelling, informing yourself before you leave avoids
unnecessary inconveniences later.  For specific questions
contact us.

Is there an age restriction for students?
We are open to students of a wide range of ages.  The only requirement we have is
that the student demonstrate adult maturity and a desire to learn Spanish.

What does LIVIT stand for?  Is it an acronym?
It is not an acronym, LIVIT is short for "Live it".  The best and fastest way to learn a
language is to immerse yourself in it or live it completely.  We chose a name that
reflects that.

Are gift certificates available?
Yes, we offer gift certificates.  They may be arranged many different ways.  Please
contact us at info@livitspanish.com  for details.
